Poem

Vietnam Soldiers

Thanks to all the brave men who served

I look in their eyes trying to read their thoughts.
On the six o’clock news every night.
Their faces all dirty, clothes tattered and torn.
My heart trembles with fear at the sight.

Who are these men who travel so far,
To keep me safe in my home?
I don’t know their names yet they give up their lives.
In agony they cry and they moan.

Took from their families at a young tender age,
To serve our country overseas.
Did we say thank you or did we forget?
When weary they fell to their knees.

Many young men gave their all.
They didn’t run or dodge the draft.
They cut their hair and went like men,
Fighting for red white and blue till the last.

As a young girl who watched in fear,
There’s one thing I’d like to say.
God bless our soldiers of Vietnam,
You’re still my Heroes today!
